I read this today ... not only is it heartbreaking, but it just makes me think that despite the fact that some good has come in the past couple of years in this global thing (yes I know, among much bad), maybe we're not always the good guys.
If I were on the other end of the world, you better be damn sure the U.S. would be on my blacklist when shit like this happens. It's no wonder the world hates us.
Sorry U.S. I love you, but seriously, WTF are we doing here?
Soldier pleads guilty in Iraq killings
... The indictment accuses Green and others of raping the 14-year-old girl and burning her body to conceal their crimes. It also alleges that Green and four others stationed at a nearby checkpoint killed the girl's father, mother and 6-year-old sister.
Barker has given investigators vivid accounts of the assault. An investigator testified during a hearing in August that Barker had said the soldiers drank whiskey and played cards while plotting the assault, that Barker, Cortez and Green took turns raping the girl, and that Green shot her and her family.

When were you the good guys? Poor Travis, you have been pulled over to the dark side.. come back to Canada! (You must be sick of hearing me say that).
Anyway, I couldn't read that without posting a smart ass comment old friend.
US = Bad Guys
George = El Terrorista #1
Iraq = Country with oil - some citizens may be terrorists
Osama = Weren't you guys looking for him? Still haven't found him eh?
Fox news = Joke
On a more serious note, this is a terrible thing that happened. Hopefully it all ends soon.
Yes, that story is horrific. But the world doesn't hate you - just your moronic president and his cronies. Congratulations on the election - you might be turning a corner at last.
Strangely I wrote this post sounding like I'm an American; I guess living here makes me that on a pseudo- and liquid basis. My main point is that I think this country is really going to shit, and the past few years that's been very apparent (I won't say ALL six years because I've only been keeping up for some of it). Every country has its problems, unfortunately this one just doesn't handle them properly.
"US = Bad Guys"
- Not really, though I do somewhat agree. I live in Asheville and there are probably more "good guys" here per capita than anywhere else in the world. You can't walk down the street without people petitioning for better governmental organization, less pollution, rights, love, peace, and happiness.
"George"
- Okay this is tough to argue.
"Iraq"
- I've never been, and I don't know any Iraqis to my knowledge. There are some bad SOBs over there that want to hurt us, but at the same time there are some bad SOBs over here that want to hurt them. It's a downward spiral, really. I can understand why they dislike us though.
"Osama"
- Who knows about this dude. Does he hate Canadians too? I really don't know, honestly. I don't know if his beef is with the U.S. alone, or the western world. Would love to learn more but I honestly don't care.
"Fox News"
- Anyone that watches ANY public news and takes it at face value is seriously misled. CNN, Fox, MSNBC, all just a big money industry.
All in all, we're disliked and we don't seem to care. With industries like big pharma, the world war, and the ridiculous vanity of our entertainment industry, I don't really like us either.
All this to say in the end, I don't really care. Call me ignorant, but it's a waste of my time to think about it. The government in this country is too powerful for anyone to stop it.
Great post Trav-man. Turtle's back was good to congratulate you on the last election as well(Go Democrats!). Blogger is fun ;)
My comments were obviously not based on fact, but a mere subjective, biased, and exaggerated opinion. I guess subjective and biased is pretty much the same.
Did you happen to watch Borat at all yet? I have to say its one of the funniest things I have ever seen. Some of the stuff that is said both by him and some of the people he talks to is unbelievable. It actually blows my mind that some people in the western world still think the way they do.
Anyway, worth checking out.
